MEET THE BOARD

The Paul Koors Memorial Foundation is a non-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) incorporated in the State of New York. The Foundation intends to raise public awareness of aortic dissection disease, share Paul's talent for music, and support arts education in music. Your contribution will be used to support medical research and awareness activities or entities related to aortic dissection disease, and to fund the expenses associated with our October 12, 2019 benefit concert in Charlottesville, Virginia.

TONY KAO

President

Tony is President of the Paul Koors Memorial Foundation where he is responsible for working with board members to establish strategic policy and implement activities to accomplish the foundation’s mission.  He is Paul's uncle. Tony is also Founding Partner and Chief Investment Officer of SECOR Asset Management, LP, a global asset management firm based in New York and London that offers investment advisory and solutions focused portfolio management. Prior to founding SECOR, Tony was the Chief Investment Officer of General Motors Asset Management, where his responsibility was the management of the $130 billion global employee benefit related plans. He currently serves on the Editorial Boards of Journal of Investment Management and Journal of Investment Consulting.. His articles have been published extensively in various finance journals and books.

ELIZABETH KUEFFNER KOORS

Treasurer

Elizabeth is Treasurer of the Paul Koors Memorial Foundation where she works with fellow board members on the Foundation’s budget and expenses, and is Paul's widow. She is also a kindergarten teacher at the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School in Newtown, Connecticut. Before teaching, Elizabeth worked at Omnicom’s OMD as a media buyer, negotiating advertising rates and analyzing marketing programs for Johnson & Johnson, Beiersdorf, Federal Express and others, with billings exceeding $200 million.

PATRICIA McQUADE KOORS, M.D.

Secretary

Dr. Koors is the Secretary of the Paul Koors Memorial Foundation. She is responsible for communication and organization of records for the foundation. She is also the mother of Paul Daniel Koors who died of aortic dissection in August, 2019, at the age of 38. She is a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia (1971), and she completed her residency at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx in 1978, where she is currently working as a pediatrician and also as an Assistant Professor.

PAUL W. KOORS

Director

Paul is a Director of the Paul Koors Memorial Foundation and is the father of Paul Daniel Koors.  He is a practicing lawyer in New York City for the past 40 years. Paul graduated from Fordham University Law School and is a member of Koors & Jednak. He attended law school after serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. His practice focuses on insurance litigation.

GREG HOWARD

Producer & Musical Director, Paul Koors Band

Greg is Paul’s producer and the musical director of the Paul Koors Band. A musician based in Charlottesville, Greg is one of the best known players of the Chapman Stick, a unique American instrument that is played by tapping on the strings instead of plucking or strumming. He has released 15 albums on his own Espresso record label, and has produced albums and demos by artists like Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds and John D’earth, as well as Paul’s two albums, Winter’s Come and Gone (2016), and Make a Man, the Unfinished Life of Paul Koors (2019). Greg is a graduate of the University of Virginia (B.A. English 1986), and is on the University’s Adjunct Performance Faculty. He also plays keyboards and the alto saxophone.

MARY SAVIOLA

Director

Mary is the Director, Community Outreach of the Foundation.

Previously, Mary was instrumental in facilitating the operation of Rye Youth Council, a non-profit organization that specializes in fostering youth developments in Rye.
